As the newly appointed Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), my goal is to introduce a product that will give Starbucks a competitive edge in North America by offering a new, customizable coffee experience at home. After conducting research and leveraging the company’s strengths, we are excited to present the Starbucks Cold Brew Keg—a product designed to elevate the home cold brew experience, while aligning with Starbucks’ core values of sustainability and customer connection.

Value Proposition: Starbucks’ Core Business

Starbucks’ main business is built around providing high-quality coffee, beverages, and a welcoming space for customers to enjoy their favorite drinks (BStrategyHub, 2022). The company’s value proposition lies in offering a premium coffee experience while fostering a sense of community and connection (Starbucks Stories, 2023b). By introducing the Cold Brew Keg, we extend that experience to the home, allowing customers to enjoy the same premium quality and personalization they expect from Starbucks, now from the comfort of their own space.

Profitability: Current Financial Performance

Starbucks has consistently maintained profitability, supported by its strong brand loyalty, expanding store base, and digital innovations such as the Starbucks Rewards program (The Strategy Story, 2023). The company’s 2022 earnings highlighted revenue growth across its North American markets, driven by new product launches and an increased focus on digital engagement. Starbucks is financially well-positioned to introduce new product innovations that align with consumer preferences for premium, sustainable, and convenient solutions.

SWOT Analysis: Leveraging Strengths for Innovation
